States of Matter (Liquid)

In the liquid state the molecules are far apart from each other.
The intermolecular space(distance between the molecules ) is lesser than the gaseous state but more than the solid state.Due to the space between the molecules, the liquids can be compressed .
Liquids attain the shape of the container in which they are kept.

Liquids have:
1.Definite volume
2.No fixed shape.

Liquids flow and shape changes.they are not rigid so they are called FLUIDS.
water ,juice,Ink,Soup are the examples of liquid.

We are aware of the fact that many animals like fishe, sea horse, whales like inside the water. They are marine animals .They breathe in Oxygen dissolved in the water.Oxygen is a gas and dissolved in water due to intermolecular space in the liquid state.

All state of matter dissolve in liquids.

Examples:

Diffusion of solid in Liquid:
Sugar in water

Diffusion of liquid in liquid :
Lemon juice in Water.

Diffusion of gas in liquid :
Oxygen in water(Sea Water).

Examples are very important in science.Initially think about science around your own self, Once there is understanding of the concept..move towards the science lab.Know more about Copper sulphate,Potassium permaganate...and so on!!

Temperature & Molecules

Temperature and Molecules

What is the afffect of temperature on the molecules of all the states of matter i.e Solid State ,Liquid State and Gaseous State.

Basically ...As the Temperature rises, the Kinetic Energy of the molecules increases
As the kinetic energy increases the molecules starts moving .
Initially the movement is slow but with the increase in temperature it becomes vigrous.

Let us understand the effect of temperature on the solid state.

Ice is  a solid state.Take a piece of ice out of the refrigerator .Put it on a plate.Observe.It will start melting. It is due to the increase in the temperature. In the refrigerator the temperature is low ,outside temperature is high ,so the Kinetic energy of the molecules increases to such a extent that it changes its form of matter. It change itself  from the solid state to the liquid  state.

If the same lump of ice is heated in a pan ,the conversion of that piece of ice into liquid form will be early.
The molecules receive more heat from the external souce, start vibrating more vigrously thus leaving the solid state and getting converted into the liquid state.

The temperature at which the solid meits and change into the liquid form is known as MELTING POINT.

States of Matter (Solid)

The Solid State

Matter exists in three forms :

1.Solid
2.Liquid
3.Gas

How these states can be differentiated ?

Unique properties of solids:
1.Definite Shape
2.Definite Volume

Pen Book,Needle ,Wood piece are all examples of solid state.

The molecules in the solid state are tightly packed. There is negligible space between the molecules in the solid state.Since there is no space between the molecules it cannot be compressed .Therefore the shape remain intact .

As the force is applied on the solid ..it tends to break.try to change the shape of  a wooden plank..its shape cannot be changed but if more force is applied to it then it can be broken. Its difficult to change the shape. The solid state is the rigid state with define volume.

Take the example of your book .Keep your book anywhere it will remain as such...Its shape will not change whether you keep in your almirah or your school bag.Its volume will also remain the same.(Length ,breadth and height of the book will not change)

What is Matter?

What is MATTER ?
Matter is anything that has:
1. Weight
2.Occupies Space

It means that anything that has volume and weight is matter.Weight means that itat thing acn be weighed on a weighing scale.Volume implies that it occupie space.

Stones ,clouds,Stars Planets,Plants Animals Food,Water,Gases around us...even  asmall speck of sand is also matter.

Physical nature of matter:-
Matter is made up of particles, how small are the particles is beyond imagination.Put a drop of Dettol in half bucket of water. What is the observation? You can smell Dettol after a few seconds.Add water to the bucket. Can you smell Dettol now?Yes ...It implies that the small particles of Dettol are imparting its characteristics to water..even if the quantity of water is increased.

Characteristics of Particles of Matter :
1.Particles of matter have SPACE between them.
2.particles are CONTINUOUSLY MOVING.
3.Particles of matter ATTRACT each other.

In the above experiment we observe that the particles of Dettol are imparting their characteritic to water...They get dissoved in water without increasing the level of water ignificantly.Where do the particles go?Which space do they occupy?
They dissolve in water. The particles of Dettol get diffused in the particles of water.Particle of one type of matter ocupies the space betwee the particles of other type of Matter .

Eczema

Eczema is a condition in which red boils/pimples can occur all over the body and the patient tends ti itch at the affected portion. In some cases the eczema occurs at the joints like the arms, legs, neck, etc. In other cases, the red eruptions can occur all over the body and also on the head. The reason why it occurs may be extreme cold condition or the allergy in response to particular type of food intake. Boils are really itchy and make the kids irritated and parents frustrated. They cannot sleep properly and calmly throughout the night and always remain in a cranky and crying mood. A frustrated and cranky makes for 2 cranky and frustrated parents. Happy, cool and calm kids result in cool and happy parents. The parents state of mind is directly proportional  to the kids state of mind.

Now let's have a look at the remedies -
1. Get some fresh Neem tree leaves and boil them in water. Let the water cool down and then give bath to your kid in that water. The Neem leaves reduce the infection and moisturize the skin. After the bath apply some coconut oil on the body for further relief. This reedy is in use since ancient times. Continue the Neem baths and applying the coconut oil till the eczema is completely removed.

2.Buy a herbal Neem soap from the stores and use it for bathing the kid daily till he feels fine.

3. Add 2-3 drops of Neem oil in the bath water.

All the above methods are good however the 1st method is the most effective and will cure even a harsher attack of Eczema.

Friday 30 November 2012

Himesh Reshammiya is back!

And he is back to singing. Though he has always been criticized with a nasal voice by his peers, his unique way of singing and his massy music has touched many a hearts and earned him scores of fans. His private Album "Aap ka suroor" and his music compositions in "Namastey London" were really awesome and very popular.

There was a time when 7 out of 10 songs in the Top 10 Bollywood songs were his. His songs ruled in the music channels, clubs and discos. Auto wallahs were his ardent followers and also made his debut movie an  average earner hit. He got lost in the pursuit of Stardom and his fans suffered when he stopped being a Music director and was a struggling leading man of many a movies.

Now he is back to composing music and singing too! Hope he keeps entertaining his fans and continue doing what he is best at doing!

Baby

Baby is a bundle of joy
Rich in experiences just like alloys.

Baby's arrival is the moment of happiness.
Brings in the family the aura of togetherness.

Baby is so precious and blessing of GOD.
Everyone prays and thank thy Lord.

New parent's cherish, wonder in their lap.
Grand-parents love to have baby after so much gap.

Baby is cosy in mama-pappa's arms.
Weighs not much, only 3000 grams.

As the time passes and a few sun rose.
Out of the hand baby grows.

Baby is now a crawler.
And begins to sit in th sturdy stroller.

Putting everything in mouth is a little greedier.
Baby websites say bring a nice teether.

Now baby safe should be the house
Again time to shop and browse.

Baby crawls day and night on earth.
And loves his mother who gave him birth.

Days are gone when baby was crawler.
Now grown up into a little small toddler.

Gush of memories in my brain, eyes wink.
I am bound to think.

My parents did the same for me
When will I acknowledge thee.

Forget not thy parents.
Respect them, and worthy descendants.

The Garden

Flowers, creation of GOD, are adorable.
Beautiful colours, brightness is all commendable.

Look at the petals, how neatly arranged.
One over the other, makes it look great.

Tiny birds and butterfly twitter around.
Green tress and plants swirl and surround.

Bees flying, jumping from one flower to another,
Ants crawling on the ground mutter.

Green grass is spread out like a mat.
Kids playing here and there and jump on that.

Bloom always, teach us the petals.
Support other say the sepals.

Work hard say the ants.
Shadow to everyone tree's always want.

Flowers bring smile on our face.
Never feel low in life's race.

Birds teach us to aim up high.
Bees say fly and never sigh.

Yoga - Pranayama

In this age of sedentary lifestyle, workism is the new mantra for most of the individuals, for instance professionals may be of IT profession or medical line. People work from morning till evening, in the evenings one is so tired that the mind says eat food and sleep. Again in the morning same schedule of getting up and going to the office. There is no quality time that can be spent in a gym or devoted to a sport to shed of excess kilos. Going daily to a gym is also a project work in itself getting ready after a tiring day at office. So it seems that Yoga is the best option. This science is a beneficial one.

Powerful word "AUM" is already present in our lives. In Yoga enchanting this word with the rhythmic breaths is different. Pranayam is all based on the breathes we take in and out. Yoga is based on the principles of knowledge of mind, energy and breath. It not only improves immunity, improves health, but also cures many diseases considered as incurable in regular medical practice. By doing the Pranayamas with closed eyes you can experience spiritual healing and improve the overall well being of mind and body. In today's age we have stopped taking deep breaths and Pranayama teaches the importance of taking deep and measured breaths. This helps in strengthening the nervous, circulatory and digestive systems which are the main systems running human body. Pranayamas if done regularly will prevent regular ailments suffered by all.

The Yogic science was lost and taught in select ashramas, but now it is being taught on various TV channels. The general awareness is increasing, and it is upto the individual to take time out and improve their health by practicing Yogic pranayamas and asanas on a a regular basis.

Wonders of GOD

Open a pomegranate and observe how each and every seed is arranged in such a neat manner layer after layer. Every small seed is filled with sweet juice, shimmering with bright red or pink colour, colours of nature.
They are not attached together by any glue or fevicol but still they are together and intact.

Open a walnut and you will see a shape similar to Human brain and it is said that eating Walnuts improves the brain health. Open a Tomato and the shape has lot of resemblance with our heart and eating tomatoes improves our heart health. Look at the beans and you will find the shape resembling Kidneys. It is said that the kidney functioning is benefited by eating beans. Just wonder how the nature has made these things. These can not be considered as mere coincidence. These are marvels of nature and gift of GOD.

When the wind blows leaves move. If it does not leaves do not move. What does this mean. Without his consent, nothing can happen. Growing on same piece of land, some plants have bitter produce as is bitter gourd and some vegetables are sweet as Gourd. How is it?

Scientific processes which regulate the union of elements in the human body. Energy coming from outer world to our planet earth. Complex systems like nervous system, digestive system how they work on their own. As we learn about these systems in detail in the books we see that each system is a complex machinery in itself. How these things have come in to being how GOD controls all nature is a wonder

The days and the night revolution of earth and rotation of earth, weather changes. All are creations of GOD. Although scientifically each and every aspect has been studied whether it is geography or biology but there is GOD's hand behind all these.

Upma - North Indian style

Southern dish Upma in North Indian style

Upma is a salty preparation with main ingredient being Bombay rawa (sooji). In North India people usually make halwa with sooji, with lots of dry fruits and ghee. Newbie here in South I went to a restaurant and found this new dish called upma. I ordered the same and we waited for the same to be served. When the waiter brought it I could understand that the dish was made out of Bombay rawa or sooji.

When I ate it I found it to be a salty dish with vegetables in it. Initially I did not like it as I was more used to eating halwa made out of sooji, however gradually I developed a liking for it and my kids also love it as a weekend snack. It is also healthier as it has boiled vegetables, no Ghee and no Sugar.

Savor the delicious upma. It is snack you can have on a Sunday morning. It will leave you asking for more.

Ingredients - Sooji (Bombay rawa), vegetables at home, onion, tomato, salt, cilantro, peanuts

Steps to follow -
  • Fry all the vegetables. Add salt to taste.
  • Roast the sooji on low heat to make it brownish.
  • Add the vegetables and water to cook it.
  • Garnish with peanuts and cilantro when ready.

  5. Set your LG Microwave on the Grill mode. Set time for 8 minutes and start the oven.
  6. You can indulge in a dance or 2 till the time your Pizza gets ready.
  7. Take out the ready to eat bread cheese pizza.

Your kids will really love it and it is a very good option for weekend snacks. It is more healthy with wheat bread.

Writing

Writing is a skill an art form. Expressing the thoughts by the processor of our body (brain) and amended by the pumping center of the body (heart) on a piece of paper is writing. They say that if someone wants to be a writer write one or two pages on a daily basis.

On wonders how the brain of J K Rowling author of Harry Potter must be processing. It must be a wanderer in the world of fantasies, imagining unlimited unimaginable things. I have not read the books but I have seen some of the movies based on the books. How a small brain can imagine something like this? It is a different world of Magic!

Similarly how Tom and Jerry can follow each other in such a comic entertaining and imaginative way. Don't know much about the writer of Tom and Jerry but I have seen many cartoons and rolled with laughter. Hats off to such writer who are entertaining the kids and even grown ups with their fantastic piece of work.

Homeopathy in Hyderabad

Homeopathy is the practice which is beneficial to one and all. Though the medicine takes a lot more time than the allopathy medicine but it's effect removes the disease from the root of the problem. The homeopathy treatment is effective for all kind of diseases be it simple cold, sinus or be it severe disease like baby eczema.

The practice of Homeopathy how it is being done now leaves a lot of questions - both ethical as well as social responsibility. I would like to share my experience with you all here - my little one suffered from eczyma in the winter months. We were suggested by our elders to use only homeopathy medicine. After finding out a homeopathy practitioner in the hi-tech city area we went to the Doctor expecting some relief for the hapless kid.

Before going there we searched for the eczema on our GURU / knowledge source for all time internet for the medicines to be used. We found out the medicines that could be useful for eczema. But instead of visiting the Homeopathic medicine store we went to the Doctor. After examining our kid the Dr politely gave us a form to fill and asked us to give an amount of Rs 800/-. He also gave some medicine for the kid. He mentioned that we need to return every 3 months and pay the same amount. I was filled with astonishment and amazement and wondered how someone could charge such an exorbitant amount for a small bottle filled with some sugar pellets and little bit of liquid.

We gave the prescribed medicines to our kid for couple of months without any beneficial outcome and the poor guy was still suffering.

The clause about returning back and regular payments be given to the Dr was the surprising part as if we were joining some club where a regular fees needed to be deposited even if we did not use the facilities.

In the small towns the scenario is different, many people practice homeopathy and charge very nominal fees. Some charge only for the medicine, in big cities the practitioners have made this a business and are fleecing people without giving any effective medication. They want the customers to come back regularly and keep filling there coffers. In small towns the Dr is giving the name of the medicine prescribed and it can be purchased from the shop as well directly later on.

Seeing the bad condition of the eczema in my kid's case, my maid told about the natural way of treating such cases. She was a helping hand which I did not expect at all. She suggested to warm water with Neem leaves and give bath to the baby with the same and not use any soaps at all. She also brought some fresh leaves from the neighborhood. We started this method and the results started appearing within a week's time. The skin of my baby improved a lot and he stopped scratching himself all over and not sleeping properly at night.

Homeopathy medicine is very useful as I have used it in my childhood, however it has become purely a business in Hyderabad with the practitioners not caring about the patients as well. The practitioners are busy running schemes where you are forced to enroll for an year, 2 years or more as if you are enrolling for a degree course and at the end of all you will achieve great results. Contrast this with small towns and you find that the medicine is easily available, practitioners are available easily and the kids also have no issues eating the homeopathy medicine. It is a good health option just that in Hyderabad it has been made unaffordable by the way it is being used.

Goldizine zone

Ancient story says that once a girl was lost in the woods, found a house went inside and saw the three bowls of soup on table. One big, with very hot soup, one small with little hot soup and one smaller with cool soup. She ate the bowl with the cool soup. Then she went inside the bedroom. One bed was very long other was also little smaller but still long, the last bed was of her size and was perfect. The story is applicable to all. Considering the kids. If they get hurt, even a scratch they come crying to their moms, as that is the most comfortable zone or Goldizine zone. Everyone has Goldizine zone, comfort zone, depending on the choices & priorities of one person. On alight note - what is the Goldizine zone was a newly wedded bride - inlaws or her own parents?

Beet root

Beet root is early available. It has many uses and different ways to eat. We can conserve it as salad. One more interesting way is to consume it by preparing Kanji ( salty and spicy drink). It is very easy to make kanji. Let the pieces of two beet root, put them in a glass bottle with wide neck and add a litre of water to it. Add crushed mustard seeds, black salt. Put the bottle in the sun for two days. The third day kanji is ready. It is very tasty to drink and is very useful too.

From the point of view of a bus conductor

Just like Goldizine zone. It's a modern world today. Every sphere of life is tried to be run on a particular technology. Let's see a telephone that has evolved into a mobile device and further into a Smartphone. Computer has evolved into a Laptop and laptop has been replaced by other devices like IPAD, Tablets.

Coal trains have been replaced by electric trains and metros. Books are replaced by Kindle, ebooks, grocery shops replaced by Malls, physical shopping replaced by virtual shopping on internet, Tandoor replaced by Microwave ovens, knife being replaced by choppers, etc.

Now look at how our bus conductor still conducts his daily business. He still moves from one seat to another checks with the passenger their destination, tells them the fare, takes the money from him/her and returns the difference if any. Once he has got the correct amount he opens his ticket box which has many colored tickets. He tries to pull out the required tickets with his sweaty and soiled hands. At times he licks his thumb to enable him to get the tickets out delivering us the required ticket. We get the ticket wet with bacteria from his thumb. How pathetic? Why have we still not used a technology which will remove this burden from the conductor.

It is suggested that there is a machine fixed near the driver's seat where the people can select the fare amount for which they want the ticket, put in the money and get the ticket out of that machine. The difference in amount would also be dispensed by the machine. The duty of the conductor would then be limited to checking the new passengers boarding and check the tickets.

Mary Kom

Mary Kom

As a woman my priority remains the same as many married women of my country, that once kids are born a woman is all busy with the daily chores...caring for kids ,cooking food, feeding kids, helping in homework, making them sleep, telling stories and so on.

But, look at Mary Kom. She has brought in a drastic change in the mindsets of many married women. Slowly and steadily the change will permeate in the mind of women.

Mary Kom is such a strong lady with twins, and still she has made Indian fraternity proud by winning a medal in Olympics. The feeling that if Mary Kom can do, we too can, has rekindled in minds and overnight she has become idol of not one but many. She demonstrates a deep commitment towards her goal, apart from all house hold responsibilities. We appreciate and nurture the role she plays. She has excelled in a sports which is considered the primary domain of the males. She has been a World champion winning 5 times, and she got the opportunity to represent India in Olympics as this game got introduced to this world sporting meet.

We should hail this iron lady and take inspiration from her that even after marriage and parenthood she attained recognition and brought India laurels. We bow to you Mary Kom!

Supermarkets versus kiraana shops

Supermarkets versus kiraana shops

Business houses have taken our the supermarkets route to sell consumer goods and groceries taking on the small kiraana shops head-on. We have supermarkets selling everything – grocery items, vegetables/fruits, consumer electronics, clothes, etc. This trend has come from more developed countries where retail is big business and only supermarkets now exist with kiraana shops/ neighborhood shops vanishing completely. The discounts that the supermarkets offer cannot be given by the small shop owner as the supermarkets get special discounted rates from the product manufacturers and also have the advantage of larger scale. The can sell at lower rate and lower margin still earning profits.

For buying groceries the young Indians now go to a Reliance Mart, Spencers, More, Vishal Mart, Heritage fresh, Easy day etc. These stores come out with weekly offers giving discounts on many items and spend quite a bit on marketing as well. Consumers also find it more convenient as they step into a store, take a cart, checkout items from many manufactures and compare price, quality and other factors making a choice as per their requirements. There are big superstores like Hypercity, Reliance Megamart, More superstore, etc. In such stores even auto accessories, furniture etc are also available.

Kiraana shops are meant to work on a large scale. One has to wait till the shopkeeper or his assistance is catering to the other customer who has come before you, taking the list of items from them and adding the prices on a sheet of paper or a calculator. If the number of people who come to shop are large the wait time increases. Another inconvenient thing is that the customer does not get to choose and many a times kiraana shopkeeper is the one giving item from a particular manufacturer if that is only item available.

The era of supermarkets has arrived bringing in many benefits – convenient, choice amongst manufactures, price comparison, discounts, offers. One more benefit could be if you want you can walk for many hours in a superstore giving you good exercise help you shedding some weight.

Fundamental rights – Education

Fundamental rights – Education

As citizens of India, we are honored to have 7 fundamental rights. Right to education is one fundamental right that says that everyone in India should have right to education without any bias, prejudice or malaise. Education / literacy is the need of the hour. It is said that a thief can steal your ornaments, money, mobile, electronics, currency but he cannot steal the education. Education is your real ornament.

Educated citizens lead to prosperity and development of the country and eradicates poverty and manual labor. If the woman of the house is educated, she knows the importance of education and would like her kids as well to have good education. This leads to educated society which is away from poverty.

Right to education should be for everyone irrespective of caste, creed, religion and sex. Government of India has introduced many schemes via which the families of lower income group can get their kids educated with financial help available from the government or funded by the schools. Many primary government schools have been opened which provide free education and meal to the kids.

Let's take an example on how education changed society – when British came to India very less number of people were educated in the global sense and literacy level was low. British wanted local people to fill some positions which they could not fill by bringing more Britishers from England. They opened educational institutes which gave global standard education and helped some of our folks to learn what was happening in the world. Made some of our leaders to know about the global trends, labor struggles, Marxism and American freedom struggle. It gave them the strong belief to make India free and have independence. The language English has also helped Indian's in the current decade to be the Outsourcing hub for jobs coming from US, UK and other developed countries. Education can transform a nation and we should strive to get more and more people educated.

Grass is always greener on the other side

Grass is always greener on the other side

When we are kids, we yearn to grow up and be adults. We think that we will grow and our parents won't say us anything – complete your homework, brush your teeth before going to bed, work hard, get good marks, don't waste time. Parents fix time table for everything – time for breakfast, time for nap, time for lunch, time to play, time for doing homework, sleep and so on. Kids would think that once they grew older, they will control over their own lives and no one will dictate things to them. Teachers telling in the class to complete the assignments, keep quiet during lectures, concentrate on the studies and not to waste time in playing or other activities.

When we grow and achieve adulthood, other responsibilities drop on our shoulders – worrying about career. Of job security, running our household, paying EMIs, monthly bills, increasing living costs, keeping the kids disciplined and imposing the rules we abhorred ourselves. As parents we say – don't watch TV, complete your homework, don't fight with siblings, don't waste time, brush your teeth, and so on. The cycle goes on.

As parents we are worrying about our kids and also working to keep our household running. We yearn for the carefree years of our childhood when we didn't worry about earning any money or take care of someone else. So true is the saying “Grass is always greener on the other side”.

Olympics 2012 - London

Greatest sporting tournament of the world is here. Switch on the television sets, same news - Olympics. Set of 8 - 9 people sitting comfortably in the studios and discussing - who will win and who will not win. Open the newspapers - Olympics this and Olympics that.

What difference does it make to a common man who has to go daily to the kirana shop and buy bread and milk and then get busy himself in his daily chores. The cost of the milk and the bread he buys will not change. So what is the big deal in Olympics for a common man. Athletes who compete and along with them politically connected officials visit the foreign destination at tax payers cost. Some friends and family will also visit the venue. How a particular athlete will perform becomes the topic of talk for the newsmakers and easy way to fill their telecast hours earning them easy money with ready made news material.

Editors, news writers who publish articles in the Papers also earn money by analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of the athletes. What good does it do to discuss how many meters someone will throw the discus or javelin? Will it actually affect the athlete's performance and help them in winning the medal? No it is all useless discussion. Common man who is struggling with recession, corruption, inflation and bad job market does not really care about these news articles and shows. However when one of these athlete's does win a medal and come back the common man will be truly happy as the win is for our country and increases our pride.

A cup of tea

Numerous types of tea - Green Tea, Black Tea, Irani Chai, and so on. In monsoon, on a rainy day, sipping a hot cup of tea is a must. Put together - water, tea leaves, milk and cardamom create such a magic potion mixture call tea.

Magic potion since it relieves the headache and stimulate instant energy in few minutes. How did this saying come in to being "It's not my cup of tea". The person who  have coined this phrase may have tasted many types of tea and may not have liked one of those type and consequently came to a conclusion that this is not his cup of tea.

As the wheels of taste buds of long acted slowly on numerous variety of teas, ultimately establishing the difference between gimmick and expedient tastes or otherwise he denies involvement of particular tastes as better on the taste buds. The tastes which qualified the taste buds became his cup of tea. The idiom is used beautifully and significantly connect it with the real fact.

Comedy Queen - Bharati Singh

We regularly see the Comedy Queen Bharati Singh in the TV Show Comedy circus taking the audience into a laughter roller-coaster ride. As we see her perform we get pulled into the comic act and go crazy laughing. Just looking at her funny faces make us laugh uncontrollably. Her physique is such that it reminds us of yester year actress Tun Tun. As a stand up comedian in Comedy Circus when she gave a performance we used to roll in laughter.

Now that she has joined Jhalak Dikhla Ja as a contestant in the dance show. Earlier I thought that what will she do there? Also she is not so slim - trim like other participants. There were doubts but after seeing her dancing in the show, it seems that she is real talent. She can entertain everyone with her talent and smile and comedian looks.

She has the spontaneous comedy timing and make any situation really funny with her instantaneous answers. We can certainly hope for her to shine more and more. All the best to her for "Jhalak Dikhla Ja".

Stitch Dear Tailor Stitch

Stitching is an art in itself. Tailors are artists in their own sense playing with the cloth, scissor and thread, ultimately converting a plain piece of cloth into lovely outfits. Now is the age of branded ready made apparels stitched in factories by machines. But still at times if you need some customization you need to go to a tailor. I got entangled in a web, caught in a loop in search of a tailor who could sew a divided skirt for school uniform for my daughter. I went to a tailor master with the cloth, gave instructions on what was the requirement and also measurements. He assured that the dress will be ready in 4 days. When I called to inquire on the progress as per the date given I was told that it will take 2 more days.

2 more days went by and again I called to check on the progress and the tailor made an excuse that he was out of town and would prepare the dress in 2 more days. After 2 days I decided to go the shop myself and check for myself what was going on. My daughter was very enthusiastic and accompanied me along. On reaching there we found that the cloth was cut in 2 but still not stitched into a dress. We took the cloth cut in 2 parts and went to another tailor. He assured a week's time to complete the task. One week went by and we had to take back the cloth as is un-stitched still and the promise of delivery again broken.

Finally we found a tailor with the help of our gate keeper who completed the stitching of the dress and gave a lovely uniform.  This is an art form which is slowly dying and number of really skilled tailors is reducing. Still we need the tailors for some dresses which cannot be bought as is from the market.

Colourful healthy salads

Salad is a dish which can be used as main course or side dish in our Menu. Easy to make and packed with nutrients having natural healthy constituents Salad is good for our health. Perfect salad should be crispy, moist with proper dressings on it. Subway salads and Quiznos salads are really yummy and nutritious. Tomatoes, Lettuce, cabbage, spinach, onion, cucumber are main part of vegetable salad. For dressing lemon, vinegar, salt, pepper, butter, or olive oil can be used. This kind of salad provides essentials Vitamins for our daily diet. Steaming is the best option to prepare salad since it preserves maximum natural nutrients of all fresh vegetables. Raw vegetables have thick cell walls and it is difficult for body to absorb all the nutrients. Steaming in turn softens the vegetables. Boiling again brings loss of some nutrients. Other than the vegetables sprouts of Moong Daal and Black Chana can also be added to the salad to make it richer in Proteins.

It is nature's bounty and Nature is perfect.

Looking out at Sun

Our energy systems need to become efficient and sufficient. Use of local natural resources like solar, wind, biomass should become more common. For this also we look towards the sky, the abode of God. We look up to the sky and seek the help of Sun. Sun can be the major source of energy. Surya dev has athaaha krupa on India. Our elders worshiped Sun early in the Morning. Scientifically offering water to Sun early in the morning brightens the divya jyoti of our eyes.

Our ancestors may not have known about this but worshiped God as a part of their daily routine. Solar energy is now concentrated using Solar Panels and used to generate electricity. In Magarpatta city in Pune, there are hundreds of buildings. Thousands of people reside there and there is no need to fit geysers in individual flats as Solar panels are used for heating Water supplied through pipeline to flats saving lot of electricity. This is a novel concept and should be used in more and more buildings as our country has abundant sunlight available.

Monsoon

One of the most eagerly awaited season by all of us. Instead of monsoon it should be come soon soon. After scorching summer everyone Welcome's this time. Weather is cool. The atmosphere becomes fine. Even the animals and birds show their ecstasy - Peacock's dance, and birds sing.

We relish garma-garam pakoras and tea in the evening, gossiping and laughing. Kids enjoy the showers by extending their small hands and letting rain drops wet their hands and dresses. Even grownups forget their seriousness and enjoy the moment of first showers.

Apart from the emotional happiness there is significant contribution of Monsoon to India's economy and wealth of a large population which works in the field of Agriculture. Majority of farmers depend on the rains for irrigation of their farms. Deficit of rains is direct contributor to inflation with less farm produce causing shortage of essential goods. It is a common occurrence that the janta does special havans/prayers to appease the rain God wishing abundant rain. Nature is strange and at some places excess rains cause flooding causing displacement of a large populace and large scale economic devastation.

It is long overdue when we work towards conservation of water that we receive through rains by using rain water harvesting techniques and also create large lakes which are maintained as water reservoirs supplying essential water to the cities.

I can ... but I won't

1. Pollution control is necessary  but still many government buses are emitting harmful gases in the environment.
2. All have dust bins in our house but still throw waste in the adjoining empty plot.
3. Many people sleep without eating and still we waste food.
4. In monsoon eating outside food can cause diseases, but still we eat from the bandi/laari.
5. We can slow down and drive carefully but still we race our cars.
6. We can make ourselves healthy by eating natural foods still we eat the junk food.

Obsession for some toys - why?

A part of kids earlier life is spent with the toys. Some of the toys like soft toys become there so hard favorite that they brush with them, walk with them, drink with them and sleep with them and so on. As a parent, I think that there should be some favorite toys of a kid, so that if the toddler becomes sad or cry, then it should  make him relaxed and soothe her. In the malls or airports we could see small kids carrying their toys mostly soft toys without which they cannot spend a single minute. When elder daughter was small she used to play with a small yellow chicken always. Even if we go to market, we had to carry it. No body else can even touch it. This continued till she was 3 1/2 years. So there are some things that kids also become obsessed to. If somehow the toy gets misplaced, then it used to be search time for everybody. Even if, I put it in front of the dryer, till the time it comes out, smiling to her I would say that your little chicken is taking bath.

So it is nature of human beings to get attached to some things, in spite of the fact that these things are not talking and cannot show any emotions in response to our emotions.

Go - go - goat

Our watchman has bought 2 goats. They are now tied at the outer side of the main gate of our house. On asking his wife that why are these for, the response was a cool one - that these were for Eid. "Eid" is a festival celebrated a lot in Hyderabad. My kids on the other hand are very eager to know each and every thing about the goats. In 1 day I realized that I need to read an encyclopedia on goats. The questions put forward by them were - what do they eat? how goats sleep? where is there tummy? why are they eating all the time? How can they jump from such height? why are they not talking? do they drink bournvita milk?

Kids have an indefatigable appetite for knowledge and they are very curious about animals. They would like to know about our nature a lot however in today's urban world we see very less part of the Earth's zoology and botany. For them to know more about the nature and animals and plants they will need to make special trips to rural areas or zoos.

School chale hum

Remember that song from  Doordarshan - School chale hum, school chale hum. Kids are so excited to go back to school after such long boring holidays. Kids whose Mom's are homemakers have to stay under the diktat of their mom for the entire vacation period all day long. Do this, do that and don't do that. Even the kids whose Mom go to work have to remain confined with care takers in the day care facilities. They also go more disciplined and less social life.

When it gets nearer to the end of the vacation the children start thinking of the fun time they will again have with their school mates, teachers after a long time. They are also very excited about the new items they have bought and would use in the new class - new pencil box, tiffin, bag, books, water bottles and so on. Every kid likes new things and also likes some time away from the nagging of their Mother and the tight environment kept in the day care. This is also the time when smart business houses catering to kids needs market new products with lucrative deals as back to school deals. Parents also fall into the marketing trap and try to get the snazziest latest things for their school going kids blowing away lot of money in the bargain.

There is one more thing that should be part of the back-to-school events and that is the immunization shots. It should be mandatory for the schools to check the immunization record of the kids in the initial days of school opening. This should also be the top most priority item for the parents.

Recipe - Daal makhani

Waking up kids in the morning

Even for me getting up in morning in winter out of my cozy and warm quilt was an uphill task.My dad and mom would call me, get up you are getting late for the school. I remember that I used to male excuses, just 5 more minutes and I will get out of the bed. My mom would say that you have slept for 9 long hours and still you are not satisfied, what if you sleep for another 5 minutes. But I remember that those 5 more minutes were much more jaan se pyare than 8 long hours of night sleep.

This was my condition. Now that I am a Mom, I wonder how to wake up my kids. They also say "Mama give me just 5 more minutes". Their innocence reminds me of my childhood and those "five minutes".

Driving or talking?

How much can we talk?

Teachers in the class pass the order "Silence", there should be "Pin drop silence". In college Professors bang the wooden side of the duster on the table so hard that one could see chalk blowing up into the air. The clouds of chalk reaching the nostrils of the students, ultimately signalling to the brain and stimulating it to stop talking. Every chatter box in the class is stopped as if spluttering of the tadka sound suddenly stops when we add a cup of water to it.

Nowadays, while driving, whether it is a bike, scooter, car, or bus we talk at the same time. The chatter box attitude at the back of the mind continues and propels to talk, talk & talk. And then there are traffic police another person who snaps and offers challans to people talking and driving.

Shilparamam - A must see in Hyderabad

Shilparamam is located in the heart of Hi Tech city Madhapur, Hyderabad. Just at the entrance I could see rows of hawkers with balloons, toys. Some ladies sitting on the floor with the white beautiful flower garlands with charming fragrance selling to the ladies.

Shilparamam is divided into four sections. One section consists of the bazaar with variety of clothing, shoes, wooden toys. Lots and lots of decoration pieces for home, temple can be purchased at reasonable price but lots of bargaining has to be done. Some have remarkable pottery pieces. Decorative hangings made of clay are very popular. Antique pieces like Grandma's chair, wooden furniture with ancient touch can be seen here.
Apart from this there is another section which is a lake. Boating is a common adventure people indulge in. Senior citizens, young couples and stroller pushing parents and children are seen here. Sculptors depicting village life are kept at different parts of the park and are marvelous.

There is a bullock cart which also runs in the park. It goes around every nook and corner of the park. It's bumpy ride is very nice.

Third part of the park is a village. Wow, what a realistic touch. It has houses of different people working as Gold smith, Barber, Cobbler, Pottery maker, and so on in a village. There is a scene where lots of women and men and selling vegetables, fish, fruits. It's the market of village.

From within Shilparamam there is a gate for the Night Bazaar which has lights and fountains. A feel of calm washes over as one views all this.

Overall a stress relieving experience and a nice weekend getaway!

Dinner Time

Dinner reunion happens every day. This is the time when family get together, good time to unwind and build the spirit among all family members be it adults or kids. Adults and kids discuss what happened in the whole day long.

In the morning, everybody is in hurry. Kids get ready for school and adults rush for their jobs. So no body has time to sit together for breakfast without any hurry. Dinner time is the best time when the family members sit together, talk about how they spent their day and spend some quality time together. This is the time for relaxation, stress free laughing. Kids relax share their opinion.

It's a fun time for the kids, sitting with parents and grand-parents. Parents have positive and calming effect, which can help kids tide over a difficult or tough situation in their school or college. Overall dinner time gives you happiness, satisfaction, fun. Dinner time gauge the pulse of all members of family. It's time to solve the problems, jolly, a fit of laughter.

Dear Bollywood movie makers, production houses!

We, the Indian parents, desire soothing, comical, non-violent, non-abusive, fun of fun and masti bhari inspirational movies for our kids. Show the brilliance of your minds, fore-go the same formulaic money spinners or duds that you deliver repeatedly and produce movies that are kids oriented and help them in our wake of life. Watching these movies kids get inspired and transform into dynamic leaders of our country.

We miss the old charming songs written specifically for kids like -- Naani teri morni, Daadi amma daadi amma man jao, and Lakdi ki kaathi. Reduce the mass masala dhishum-dishum movies to bring forth simple and endearing movies that kids would love to watch. At least on Children's day, Mother's day or Father's day there should be release of one such cool and calm movie, without any tension, violence and formula used in most of the movies catering to Adults. More than half of the society will be over the moon to have such movies for kids. Such movies that can help the kids to dream, aspire, achieve high in life.

Movies like "Koi Mil Gaya" and "Ra One" aspire to be kids oriented but still have lots of masala for Adults. We want complete kids movie which their tender hearts can follow and enjoy. Movies which we can all sit together in a family and watch without getting embarrassed.

11. Enjoy the Khaman with coconut-dates chutney.

Summer fruits

Common man has something to cheer. In the hot Indian weather here are some fruits that tickle our taste buds and give us contentment.

1. Mango: We all wait for summer time for this golden/yellow, delicious and juicy fruit. Almost all fruits are now available in Market throughout the year however this king of fruits is available in market only for 3 to 3 1/2 months. After all this is our National fruit and "King of Fruits". Summer comes and markets are flooded with Mango. Aam ras, mango shake are some products of this fruit which we can enjoy.

2. Lemons: Another yellow fruit which is a very healthy fellow. A pinch of salt, teas spoon of sugar, and magic masala (not maggi masala) with 2-3 cubes of ice makes a heavenly lemonade.

3. Water melon: These summer fruits, melons have the longest season. Green, green here I come.

4. Pine-apple: Sharp, thorny fruit with many medicinal values. More flavored and tastes some what like mango.

Cycle ki savaari

As the Petrol prices in India have sky rocketed with a huge hike inflation is going to increase further more and the common man faces increase in prices of daily use items - milk, vegetables, pulses, sugar, rice, wheat etc. In current times and age kids still use cycles for fun and transport. The usage by adults has been restricted to people with very less income who can not afford the motor cycles or scooters. By embracing the environmentally friendly means of transport we can "Go Green", reduce the Petrol consumption also improve our physical fitness.

Cycle is a miracle invention by MacMillan. It converts the riders potential energy into motion. Thinking about health benefits, cycling for 10 minutes burns enough calorie to keep a person fit and it is a good daily exercise.
We cannot accomplish anything by coming on the roads and protesting. We Indians are good at Jugaad. Why not use this means of transport as a major mode of transportation and increase Public transport systems which will also help us in foregoing use of petrol guzzling personal transportation. It should be considered as a complete transportation system where we use public transport for long distances and use cycles to cover the last mile.

Cartoon Cartoon.

Censors in the house, furor in Parliament over a cartoon in the NCERT text book. Why not censuring the political leaders from attending the same parliament session, after spending so much time in jail due to massive scams. No disgrace, no embarrassment on such issues. Fighting over the matters which general public has not even bothered about. What is this if not a feudal system with no laws rules to be followed by these feudal lords of today. This reflects that there is no control, restraint.

Worried about the image of political class for cartoons but not worried about the character they display while making their hands dirty in mind boggling scams. The scams present a much more dirtier and vulgar picture than the satirical cartoons. But no body is bothered. This is ironical as well as tragic. Government says delete the cartoon and revise all the text books but says why not erase the names of corrupt and tainted and revise the parliament. Parliament is the pillar of democracy and it must be protected from the black hands of greed and corruption.

Force fed creativity

In our studying days, there were no summer camps, special vacation classes, reading sessions. During our summer vacations we used to study, play on our own at our home, or go to our grand-parents and listen to folk tales and Epic stories. We used to spend some time in gardening, watching Jungle Book (Mowgli) on Sundays on Doordarshan. We used to borrow books from the Government library and read interesting stories. We used to read comics like Motu-Patlu, Chandamama, Champak. This is how we passed our time and do it with ease without any tension. We passed our holidays happily spending time with family, grandparents, massi, mama, bua.

Now we see that there is a trend of summer camps. They teach painting, drawing, cooking, drama. In some camps, they teach about Robotics also charge a hefty amount for these. So sometimes I feel this is a generation gap why our kids are different than we were as kids. This method to attain the goals is materialistic. Ours was more relaxed, grounded, connected with family and stimulating experience. Nothing was imposed on us and we were not doing something because the neighbor's kid was doing it. We did not need to go to a specific institute/school to listen to stories, our grand mama used to tell us stories routinely at night time.

Our kids are living in an age where every one has to follow the trend and do things as a mandate rather than a choice.

Hitech kitchen

Kitchens are now equipped with latest hi-tech appliances making life easier and more convenient for households. Kitchen holds the most important place in a house, the place which gives energy to the entire family. Kitchen has evolved a lot from the small place with single stove, some utensils and water connection. In today's modern home the kitchen has also become modern. The latest kitchen appliances have made time consuming and sometimes difficult tasks easy and simple. Just for example cutting, chopping have become easy and the processes are so simple as putting everything and press a button. Processors can cut, chop, grind your vegetables at the wink of eye, mixer/juicers can make smoothies, fruit juices within seconds. No more tears while cutting onions only smiles.

One more such appliance is a Microwave Oven. Every middle/upper class household owns a Microwave now. With endless number of recipes possible make foods you like and without a bother of constant involvement and monitoring. With large number of set programs/functions available just follow the recipe book and make delicious dishes with no hassle and with lot of predictability.

These appliances are our modern day Jinn's who fulfill our wish and perform actions we did manually before. Press a button and the dishwasher embarks on the journey of cleaning and sanitizing your utensils of all shapes and types. These equipments are a blessing for anyone working in the kitchen reducing the time taken to accomplish tasks, multitasking as you can start one appliance forget it and then move on to starting another appliance. The housewife can reduce effort in the kitchen and give more time to kids and a working woman can do things with less effort sparing her the energy needed in her work commitments.

The daily chores of the kitchen now look more and more easy and less tiring making the modern day Jinn's the kitchen appliances  companions who are needed day and night. Hail the productivity boosters of the modern kitchen!

Imagination in a kids world

Kids have a very innocent imagination and lot of inquisitiveness. They keep surprising us with the questions that come to them and also the things that they imagine. My little daughter is going to be in PP-2. Once I told her to write the Hindi alphabets Ka, Kha, Ga, Gha etc. My 4 year old started writing after looking at the book she said Kha is like 201 number with 0 and 1 joint together. She asked should I write 201 repeatedly to practice this Hindi letter? This is how she linked it with the Math numbers she had learned. This is how a small kid can imagine about numbers and alphabets. Even the 2 subjects have no relation at all she was seeing the similarity in the shapes and coming to some conclusions of her own.

Kids have a very fertile mind and relate to things that they are learning like letters, numbers, words in their own unique way. "I will not go to school Mama, because you will be alone at home. Who will take care of you?" Sweet kids, sweet talk.

Sometimes they ask some questions to which we don't have any answers. Why this chapati is not rectangle shape? Why is it round? Why different leaves have different shapes? Why flowers have different colors? Why our grandparents do not come to visit us frequently? Why we don't have wings like birds? Dogs bark and Cow Moos, why they don't talk like us? This is kids innocent world away from all worries, away from all politics of Adult's world.

IPAD Generation

IPAD is the latest Hi-tech gadget that is being introduced in Educational institutes. When we were studying IPAD or Tablets were not being used. We had text books, Black-boards, slates, notebooks and the desktop computer. Notebooks/Laptops came in after we finished our studies and now the Students are using IPAD/Tablet computers. Our parents never saw a computer when they studied and now the students use high-tech devices, computers/tablets and also learn in Digital class rooms where multimedia enabled digital boards, projectors etc are being used. The digital revolution has changed the way study material is presented using audio/visual presentations, digital animations. The study enablers are supposed to make studying more interactive and easier to grasp difficult concepts. Our generation and the generations before that missed the interactive study materials. The Advertisement blitzkrieg by the service/product providers for these gadgets and the study materials states that with the help of all these the difficult concepts of science, Math will be easily understood by students and more Engineers, Doctors and Science graduates will be produced. However this statement/claim is debatable?

Let's see the reality as is already proven. Use of devices like laptops and desktop computers for a long time cause many health issues  - eye problems,  hand/wrist injuries, back ache, headache etc. Is it advisable to give small kids these devices if they have caused issues/problems to adults. Interactive study material and enabling gadgets may be good in making some points clearer however it may make the new generation completely dependent on them and will may cause them to have limited imagination, deductive powers, analytical skills and problem solving skills. With books the student needs to use his/her own mental capabilities to fully grasp the concept and the ability to use the same to solve problems. It may be fine to use these technological devices at a mature age, however it is highly debatable without fully understanding the health as well as other implications to introduce them at an early age.

With no real need to develop writing skills if IPAD/TABLETS are used to do class work/ home work submit assessments and giving tests online/offline on computers the skills will be lesser and lesser developed in coming generations and the dependance on these devices would become a handicap. If the work of literature would be presented in Visual form it may become very easy to understand for all however people will miss the enjoyment of visualizing the stories and getting fully immersed in the stories.

We may produce copies of educated students, however the individuality will go missing with everything being spoon fed.

It is still too early to make hard conclusions on this topic however at this moment I believe it will be more a bane than a boon to students in their young age. Let's see how the things work out in the long run.

Be the role model and model your kids to be happy.

When a baby is born he is a bundle of joy for the parents. Parents are happy to see their small replicas in their small babies. Baby grows and becomes a crawler and a toddler. Initial 2 to 3 years are spent with the parents. Parents are first school of the kids. They teach the kids all aspects of life. Learning begins at home, including how to behave with strangers and in the outside world. If there are siblings bigger than the kid, he socializes with them, plays and learns a lot from them. Small kids are very tender, soft like tender leaves of a plant. They are like soft clay, get moulded the way parents want. Imparting education knowledge is not a one moment thing it is a coninuous process.

After 2-3 years kids start schooling. What kids are in the outside world, is the mirror reflection of their parents. Parents themselves are the reflection of their parents and teachers and this continues.

Initial years are building blocks of life they lay the foundation. This starts at home and should be the period which gives them the confidence for life. Parents give moral values to their kids and it is important for them to dedicate more time in the initial stages of a kid with them.

When the kid starts going to school, then all teachers teaching him become his role model. Whatever they teach, he will absorb and imbibe in his personality. Apart from the role of the parents role of teachers in the development of kids is also of utmost importance. He follows the parents and then a time comes when he follows the parents and the teachers.

Kids immate us. At home what parents do, kids also follow the same. If I watch TV, my kid will definitely do that. If I pray in the morning, my kid will obviously do. I would like to give an example - one morning I was cutting onion and tears were rolling down my cheeks. My elder daughter came and saw me and started sobbing. She said don't cry and hugged me. This was a new experience for me that my kids are following me innocently. So try to set a good example and act in a way that will make your kids better person. Try to make them self confident. Model yourself to be a good role model and your kids will make you happy eventually.

Nariyal paani

It is hot summer time and the temperature is shooting upto 42-43 degrees. Everyone is feeling the heat and trying to keep themselves comfortable by resorting to drinking cool soft drinks. The good part of being in Southern parts of India is that Cocount water is available in abundance here.

Coconut water has lot of benefits and is specially far better to the fizzy colas that are having lot of sugar and no nutrition. Coconut water is good for people recovering from any illnesses and give a lot of strength in an easily digestible form. It is better than drinking the Glucose drinks as there is no sugar and can be easily taken by diabetic persons.

There can be no adulteration and a natural drink is best as compared to drinks made in factories. The colas are addictive due to lot of sugar, caffeine and some other ingredients which only their manufacturers know. Lets enjoy the drink that is natural is better than even the water available to us as that is also polluted now a days.

Solid food for babies

For the 1st four - five months of life, babies feed on milk. Their digestive system is still developing, hence they cannot normal food. Their one sole dependence is on milk. Starting from one ounce and gradually increasing till 4 ounces at one time in four months. Doctors say that the babies should solely be on milk for 1st 6 months. some babies are so hungry that every one to one and half hour they need milk. As the babies grow, their need for food increases. I suppose that if a baby starts acting in a way that he is swallowing something, then it is better to start little bit of solid food like mashed bananas. These are soft, easy to swallow and easy to digest. Start with a small piece of banana and see the result. The poop will be dark and will also have some black strands so don't panic.

One should start the solid food at the age of six months, as they say. Also rice cereals are best ones easily available in the market. Home food like rice and dal khichdi mashed together can be started. Make a point that veggies are also introduced first. It is observed that if fruits are given first then they dont want to eat the veggies as they prefer fruits to veggies.
Ready made foods for babies are available in market. That's a blessing in disguise families when they travel. Cerelac cereals can be made even if you are travelling. Add two spoons of water to one spoon of cerelac rice cereal and baby food is ready.

Baby's tummy is satisfied and the baby is happy, obviously you are happy and so is the family.

Babies cry. Why?

Small babies cry a lot. This is how they communicate. They are small and so cannot speak, so this is the only way to express their feelings! Generally they say that mothers can understand why their baby is crying. I have experiences a lot of it. Why babies cry and fuss:

1. Check the diaper. Some babies cry when they poop. Some cry after passing urine. If the diaper is wet or soiled change the diaper and make the baby comfortable.

2. If a baby is hungry then he will cry, feed him and make him satisfied so that he stops crying.

3. Even after feeding if he continues to cry then it is burp time. Hold him on your shoulder and pat softly on his back,. He will burp and then be happy.

4. Some babies cry if they want to sleep and cannot sleep on their own. Pat the baby slowly and sing a lullaby. He will hear his mama and papa's voice and he will sleep.

5. Sometimes if his stomach is paining due to gas, rub the stomach softly. Give some gripe water.

One day my son was crying a lot and I checked all the above points but still he was very upset. And if baby is upset the whole family mama, papa all are uncomfortable. Finally after a lot of thinking and checking I remembered that I had put a new dress on him and forgot to remove the tag. That tag was irritating him a lot and was the reason for his being fussy. As soon as I took the tag out he calmed down and was fine again. so it is all experience that makes a mother a perfect mother. Spending time with your baby is the most precious time ever. Once they grow big all this fussiness, innocence, their laughter's, chuckles get over and we miss these days.
Enjoy the moments of joy with him. It is a 24x7 job without pay but it has some special moments that will stay in your memory for life. It is very satisfactoy to see your baby grow up to a crawler and then a toddler.

Recipe - Palak Paranthas

1. Knead small cut spinach greens in one cup of besan (Gram flour) and 2 cups of whole wheat flour.
This combination leads to soft greeen spinach and two flours.

2. Add a pinch of salt in it too, that will enhance the taste.

3. Make panthas.

4. Server hot with curd or butter.

This is a very healthy food. Kids love to eat palak paranthas. They are soft and easily chewable. Gram flour adds unique taste to it. Server this to your family and help them increase their iron content in body.!!

Healthy food for kids

Today made daal ke paranthe in  the morning. My kids liked it very much. Rolled them with jam and ate. I have learnt from a child's psychology, that kids dont have the patience to eat paranthe, curd, dall separately. rather they are fine with dall paranthe. Knead flour in the boiled left over daal made at night. Kids like food that is easily handled like sandwiches, pizza, which they can easily hold and eat.

My kids are fond of Maggi too. so, I bring the Atta Noodles. They are healthier and no maida, so no harm to the intestines. I add small cut capsicum, onions and potato to it to add the nutrition and flavour.

So these are some of the tricks. We come to know as we experience it. This is motherhood!! How to make your kids healthier food which they like is not a joke, it is a full fledged mission.

Chillao - aur jor se chillao

Saif had issues with the fellow NRI guests while dining in a five star hotel in Mumbai. Why?Because he and his gang were making a noise,laughing...eating and enjoying food. The other party dining on the adjoining table--NRIs, had foreign  impact on their mindset ,where people go to restaurants, pass smile to other guests sitting on next table, eat quietly and then go. No chilao and shor machao. In US, there are some restaurants which do not allow kids, since kids make lots of noise, throw tantrums and what not. So to ensure the peaceful dinner for others, kids are not allowed. Can you imagine, they do not honk horns. Is it possible here in India?
Here in India its different culture, people dance, party, enjoy, make merry.

Lecturer takes lecture at college. She has to teach a class of 40-50 students. She has to speak at the top of her voice as she should be audible to all. So this is her routine. She talks loudly even at home, even though there are two kids and hubby to listen to her .This becomes her habit of talking loudly. Hubby often says,"Arre bhai yeh aapka lecture hall nahi hai , thoda dheere boliye".

A housewife residing on the fourth floor of a building , will shout loudly (crossing all her decibel levels...) to her husband going to office..walking on the road "Tiffin to ghar hi bhool gaye..."

So yelling shouting, talking loudly is the quality of Indians. So this is the light side of it.
But if we really care for our society, then just before making sudden high loud noises and even before increasing our TV volume beyond its limits, think about kids who burn midnights oil for their exams, think about senior citizens

Come together we can make world a better place to live in. Avoid sound pollution.
